I am a scientist

We have been learning to think like scientists this term. Learning all about plants has helped us to become scientists. We have been asking lots of questions and trying to answer them. We found out that plants breathe and drink water. We found the best way to germinate a seed – seeds need water to germinate but the plant needs water, soil and sun to grow well.
WALT: investigate
         Ask questions
Make predictions (think about what is going to happen)
         Observe and record what happens
Use what we have observed to make conclusions
WALT share our ideas

Task
Show my science learning using play dough, drawing and labelling what we can see, classifying the plants and completing the plant life cycle activity.

Success Criteria:
I can ask questions
I think about what might happen
I look closely (observe)
I share my ideas
I look closely (observe) and draw and label what I see.

My plant has roots, leaves (the food factory)
and a seed in the beautiful flower.

We looked closely and but the plant pieces into groups like
seeds, flowers, roots and leaves.

Reflection

I really like: watching the beans grow in the jars

I think I need to practice: adding more detail to my pictures of plants.

Something that really helped me was: When Kerri showed us lots of different plant bits and told us all about them

What a lot of learning you have done this term. Just like a scientist you think about what might happen in our investiations and you can share your ideas. I know you look closely and can draw what you see, great diagrams of the bean seeds as they germinate. I know you have loads of ideas and wonderings. Your next step is to think about your wonderings and together we can can try and come up with an investigation question.

  1. We just loved seeing your work at your SLC Heidi, we can notice big changes in how you look and see the world around you. questioning how and why to little details that we take for granted. Great work! Keep it up!! mama xox
